Executing the Mission:

GNP Computers has two interwoven core businesses that support the mission of computing the telecom network. The first business creates Telecom-Specific Computing Products that enable telecommunication service providers and equipment manufacturers to bring their products and services to market. The second business provides complex OEM Manufacturing Services for Rapid Product Realization.

GNP designs and manufactures Computing Products that meet the physical and operational requirements of the telecommunications network and Central Office. They are NEBS-certified, continuously available systems which enable applications to run uninterrupted over five- and ten-year lifecycles. Unlike traditional PCs or generic workstations and servers, GNP computing products have been designed from the ground up to perform and be maintained in the telecom network.

Moreover, the product supports Open Systems Architecture which enables the WorkServer to run off-the-shelf Sun SPARC, Intel or HP engines. The entire product suite embodies the Operations, Administration, Maintenance and Provisioning requirements of the Central Office. This means that these computing systems can be serviced, maintained, and upgraded with both hardware and software without bringing the system down or significantly impacting performance. To achieve this, GNP's design elements, as well as a proprietary out-of-bandwidth Intelligent Maintenance Network, enable customers to develop their applications under open systems and transparently deploy and maintain them on GNP WorkServer products. The speed-to-market with which we enable our customers to deliver services is a critical component of our on-going success.

It is important to recognize that GNP's products include more than just the computing engines. In fact, we also provide a complimentary suite of peripherals all integrated into a scaleable and continuously available architecture to ensure overall system availability. This means that Input / Output devices such as RAID/disk, Ethernet, asynch/synch, T1, and ATM, for example, can be added to build a complete platform for any high availability Telco application.

The second core business is to provide telecom and network equipment manufacturers, as well as service providers, with OEM Manufacturing Services. Utilizing products from our first core business, GNP integrates complex bridges, routers, gateways, or builds custom software and hardware to provide the customer with a complete platform upon which they add value. Furthermore, GNP completely supports the final product by serving as a single source solution for testing, documentation, inventory management, revision control, software and technical support.

By combining OEM Manufacturing Services and GNP core products, we help our customers meet their speed-to-market requirements. At the end of this process, the customer has a single Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) solution that can be supported for five- and frequently ten-year product lifecycles.

OEM customers build their value on top of GNP's computing platform. For example, Texas Instruments adds voice-activated speed dialing technology. AT&T adds CDPD or Operations Support Applications. QUALCOMM and Northern Telecom add their proprietary technology in order to create Base Station Managers and Home Location Register Systems for the CDMA wireless network. Other customers like Newbridge use GNP's OEM manufacturing services for ATM routers that are a part of their Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) product line. Regardless of the application, each customer builds their value added component on top of the GNP platform, incorporating GNP technology into their long-term infrastructure plans. This strategy guarantees the progression of GNP's continued success in the marketplace.
